Mark Liberson, the owner of Boystown restaurant X/O Chicago, has announced that the eatery will be closing its doors for good on April 22. Replacing X/O at 3441 N. Halsted will be Halsted’s Bar & Grill, a more casual bar-and-grill concept that will serve lunch and dinner; Halsted’s will open on Mother’s Day, May 13.

“The research we have done has shown that the majority consider us to be a special occasion destination, which is not what we want to be,” Liberson said in a statement. “It has been a great two and a half years and we appreciate all of the support we have received from the community.”

Halsted’s will be more moderately priced. The kitchen will be be led by Elliott Green and Dacia Lange, who are, respectively, the current sous chef and pastry chef at X/O. Menu items will include items such as tilapia sandwiches with chipotle mayo; and pan-seared meat loaf with parsnip mashed potatoes. In addition, the restaurant will feature what is being advertised as “Halsted Street’s first-ever video jukebox system.”
